Privacy Policy

This is a personal website. I try to collect as little information about you as possible, and I never sell, share or trade any data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Who is responsible

This site is owned and operated by Danny Smith, a sole individual based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy-related questions, write to hi@danny.is.

What I collect

Analytics. I use Simple Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. Simple Analytics is a privacy-friendly, EU-based service that:

• Does not use cookies or any other form of persistent identifier.
• Does not collect or store personal data, IP addresses, fingerprints, or device IDs.
• Aggregates data into anonymous, page-level statistics.

RSS feeds. If you subscribe to one of my RSS feeds, your feed reader will make HTTP requests to this site. Standard web server logs (handled by Vercel, my hosting provider) may temporarily record the request, including IP address. I do not access or analyse these logs or use them in any way.

Cookies

This site does not set any cookies of its own. If your browser shows cookies for this domain, they did not come from this site.

Third parties

A few pages embed content from other services (for example, YouTube videos, Loom recordings, tweets etc). When you load a page containing an embed, the third party may receive a request from your browser and apply their own privacy practices. I try to use privacy-respecting embeds where possible, and in most cases will not load third-party iframes or JavaScript without some action from you first.

External links in articles and notes go where they say they go — I do not use link redirectors or affiliate trackers.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, you have the right to:

• Ask what data I hold about you (almost certainly: none).
• Ask me to correct or delete any data I do hold.
• Complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data protection authority.
